WYFF News 4 has been named the recipient of one of broadcast journalism’s most prestigious national awards, the Edward R. Murrow Award. The Murrow awards are presented annually by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). This is the station’s second national Edward R. Murrow Award.

The award recognizes ‘Excellence in Video’ for a story entitled “Remote Access”. It chronicles remote control racing enthusiasts at racetracks in Easley, Fountain Inn, and Clover, South Carolina where RC racing is as big as NASCAR. The story was shot and edited by former WYFF News 4 photojournalist Chip Baysden. Watch the award-winning piece here. The story also received a Southeast Regional EMMY award earlier this summer.

“It is an honor for our station to be recognized on a national level,” said John Humphries, WYFF 4 President and General Manager. “We join a list of recipients that represent some of the most outstanding journalists in television. We are proud to have this story recognized with the best of the best in the country.”

The RTDNA is the world’s largest professional organization devoted exclusively to broadcast and digital journalism. Since 1971, RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards. Recipients will be honored at the 2022 RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Gala in New York in October.
