How to Watch Nickelodeon Without Cable (2022 Guide)

Let’s quickly cover how to watch Nickelodeon without cable TV.

Nickelodeon launched nationally on April 1, 1979 as the first cable channel for children. Its programming is aimed at kids ages two to 17 with shows like “SpongeBob SquarePants”, “Paw Patrol” and “Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan.” Here’s everything you need to know.

Most of Nickelodeon’s shows are now on Paramount Plus. But the latest seasons premiere on live TV.

So for example, Paramount Plus currently has 12 seasons of “SpongeBob SquarePants”. 

If you want to see the latest episodes of Season 13, then you will need a live TV streaming service that carries Nickelodeon in its channel lineup.

Paramount Plus costs $4.99 per month after a free trial. It has a robust library of live sports, blockbuster movies, and TV shows. Cord-cutters have lots of options when it comes to live TV. Some of these services also carry Nick Jr. or Teennick.

Philo is the cheapest way to watch Nickelodeon live without cable TV.

fuboTV has 130 channels in its Pro bundle, including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., ESPN, TLC and Bravo.

Hulu’s on-demand library has only a few TV shows from Nickelodeon. You’ll find full seasons of “Drake & Josh”, “The Thundermans”, “Rugrats” and “Hey Arnold!”, but that’s about it. Hulu with Live TV is a better option for someone who wants to watch Nickelodeon live.

Subscribers to Hulu Live TV get more than 75 live TV channels, and unlimited access to Disney+ and ESPN+. If you are watching a new season of a Nickelodeon show, you can record episodes with Hulu’s unlimited Cloud DVR. 

Hulu’s live TV bundle includes local channels, Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and Universal Kids.

Subscribers can watch live TV on two screens at once.

You can watch live TV within the Hulu app, using a Roku, Fire TV Stick, Google Chromecast, Apple TV, iPhones and tablets.  

A subscription costs $69.99 per month. 

There is no free trial for Hulu Live TV. Subscribers can now get $20 off for the first three months of service. The offer is valid until Oct. 5, 2022.

DIRECTV STREAM (formerly AT&T TV) has Nickelodeon in its Entertainment bundle.

The Entertainment plan includes 75 live TV channels, and unlimited Cloud DVR. PBS Kids, Baby First HD, Boomerang, and Cartoon Network are all on the Entertainment plan.

There are 40,000 on-demand movies and shows. You can sign up for a free 5-day trial without any obligations.

A subscription costs $69.99 per month. But DIRECTV STREAM is currently knocking $20 off for the first two months of service. 

So you only pay $49.99 per month during the promotional period. Subscribers can watch live TV channels on up to 20 screens at once. You can get three months of HBO Max, Cinemax, Showtime, STARZ, and EPIX for free before the monthly rates kick in.  

There are no contracts. You can subscribe month to month and cancel whenever you want. 

DIRECTV STREAM works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Smart TVs running on Android TV and Google TV.

Before deciding whether to sign up, you can look over the different channel packages. The higher-priced Choice package also has Nickelodeon and regional sports channels for NBA games.

YouTube TV has over 85 live TV channels including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr. and Nicktoons.

Other family channels include Disney Channel, Disney Jr. and Galavision.

Sling TV does not carry Nickelodeon, but it does have Nick Jr.

Nick Jr. is available in both of Sling TV’s main channel bundles, Orange and Blue. A subscription costs $35 per month. Subscribers get 50 hours of Cloud DVR for recordings. Sling Blue subscribers can watch live TV on three screens at once. Sling Orange subscribers can watch TV on one screen at a time.

Sling TV has widespread support, and works on Smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV.

Paramount+ is the cheapest way to watch shows on Nickelodeon without cable TV or satellite service.
