You don't have to wait until July 12. Fire TV Sticks and Rokus are on sale now from Amazon.

As Amazon continues to roll out deals in preparation for Prime Day on July 12-13, we're keeping an eye on streaming devices. Two of the most popular brands—Fire TV Stick and Roku—are on sale now, bringing hundreds of streaming options to your fingertips.

Most people nowadays have a smart TV with built-in streaming programs—but what if you don’t? Or maybe you’re traveling and want to bring your favorite shows with you. Whatever your situation, a streaming device is a quick and easy (not to mention affordable) way to smarten up your home entertainment system.

We’ll post more deals as we see them, so keep your eyes on our Prime Day hub for the latest news and how-tos. Not yet a Prime member? New users can sign up for a free 30-day trial(Opens in a new window) .

Amazon’s top streaming product is its Fire TV Stick. Currently in its third generation, the base model is 50% faster than its predecessor and ships with a remote control that utilizes the smart assistant, Alexa. The Fire TV Stick displays content with HDR at resolutions up to 1080p and Amazon offers a Fire TV Stick 4K, which is a higher-end option that can display 4K content.

If you want Alexa housed in a separate box, the Fire TV Cube supports all of the features of its less powerful counterparts, but runs a six-core CPU for a responsive streaming experience with less lag and jitter when navigating menus. And since we’re on the topic of gaming, you can stream Amazon's cloud gaming service, Luna, using compatible Fire TV Sticks, so grab a Luna Controller (or two).

Roku is the most popular name in streaming devices, and it comes in a variety of different models: Express, Premiere, Ultra, and Streaming Stick. Roku supports all the major streaming services, from YouTube and Amazon Prime Video to Apple TV+, making it a versatile option in terms of program variety. The Roku Express, which we’ve seen on sale at a substantial discount depending on which one you choose, connects to your TV via an HDMI cable. It comes with a remote with button shortcuts for streaming apps. The base model only works with 1080p TVs, but the 4K+ model can stream in HD, 4K, and HDR resolutions.
