The simple gadget makes any TV smart and as one of Amazon's key products Black Friday is often the best time to bag it cheap

During Black Friday Amazon discounts the cost of thousands of products of all types but for shoppers keen to bag a bargain some of the best deals are on those that boast the internet giant's name.

Whether you're looking for a Kindle, a Fire Tablet, an Alexa device or a Ring doorbell chances are Black Friday is one of the best times of the year to get the biggest discount.

But the Amazon Fire TV Stick is one of the firm's biggest selling own-brand products with shoppers historically snapping up the popular gadget during the shopping event.

This year Black Friday falls on November 25. Historically Amazon has launched some of its own-brand deals a few days before to whet shoppers' appetites with some of its most popular gadgets.

While we don't have exact details on when this year's offers will go live yet, we'd suggest anyone looking to upgrade their TV with the simple-yet-effective gadget keeps an eye on the Amazon website from around a week before to make sure they don't miss out on the best deals.

Amazon currently sells several different versions of the Fire TV Stick. There's a Lite version with Alexa voice remote but without TV controls, which has a regular price of £29.99, a slightly upgraded £39.99 version, a 4K version for £49.99 and a 4K Max version which comes with Wi-Fi 6 support for £54.99.

All except the entry level £29.99 version include both TV controls and Alexa voice remote.

In previous years the best discounts have been on the £39.99 Fire TV Stick Lite with Alexa and TV controls which was reduced to £19.99 for 2021 and the 4K version which was reduced by 50% to £24.99.

Both these deals were unveiled on November 19 - exactly a week before Black Friday. We'd expect similarly priced discounts around a week before this year's Black Friday.

If you can't wait to get your hands on a Fire TV Stick there are two simple ways to save money on the gadget even before Black Friday.

Firstly, Amazon sells the various gadgets as certified refurbished versions, which knocks a few pounds off the price while also still giving you the protection of a guarantee.

Otherwise, it's also worth shopping around - while Fire TV Sticks are Amazon products they are not all exclusively sold by Amazon and are also available from other retailers including Currys PC World, John Lewis and Argos.

You could set up an account with TopCashback which would give you a percentage of your money back as well as giving you an additional £10 bonus on your first purchase - effectively allowing you to get another £10 off your spend.

Amazon's Fire TV Stick features plenty of streaming apps including Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and All 4 to name a few and they are all accessed through the same interface.

This effectively means if you have either a non-smart TV or a smart TV that perhaps doesn't include all these different platforms as standard it's a much simpler way to accessing streaming content.

This is particularly true when using the Alexa voice control remote and makes it ideal for members of the family who might struggle using more complicated functionality of tech gadgets.
