Remote control car drives neighborhood complaints: Olmsted Falls Police Blotter - cleveland.com

A resident called police at 8:33 p.m. June 23 about a neighbor who continues to race a remote car up and down the street. He said the remote car is destroying property and its owner is not supposed to be doing this. Police received a similar complaint in recent weeks. The officer arrived and spoke with both parties. When police arrived, they did not see the remote car on the street. The complainant said the man was using the car on the street in the common area that the Homeowner’s Association pays for. Police told the man if officer’s see the car on the street, he will be cited.

An officer saw a man at 12:53 a.m. June 23 on a bicycle with no lights. The rider then got off the bike and walked it. The officer advised him to keep the bike on the sidewalk and install a headlight and taillight on the bike.

Meals on Wheels contacted police at 11:42 a.m. June 23 for a client who did not answer the door or phone when her meals were delivered. The Meals on Wheels driver spoke with her the other day when the meal was dropped off. Police went to the residence at 11:55 a.m. where no one answer the door. He spoke with a neighbor. The officer found an open side door and checked inside with the fire department. The car the client usually drives was not inside. Police spoke with another neighbor. Contact with the woman was made. All was OK.

A woman called police at 4:46 p.m. June 24 about a slide at the Village Green. She said her grandson and his grandfather were on the playground’s slide. The grandfather received a nasty burn from the slide that was hot from the heat. They did not want medical attention but suggested someone to come and look at the slide. They felt it shouldn’t be used. It was advised the service department should be called if they felt it was too hot.

A caller at 8:12 p.m. June 24 told police kids were starting a fire at the cemetery. Police went to Chestnut Grove Cemetery and found only one person there. They then went to the old “Turkeyfoot” cemetery where they did not see anyone. However, police remained in that area. At 8:33, some kids came out of the woods at the old cemetery. They admitted to trying to start a fire. They showed police where it was to ensure it was out. The fire was extinguished with water and dirt over it. It checked out OK.

Police received a call at 11:59 p.m. June 24 that a resident were setting off fireworks. Police spoke with the homeowner. They were celebrating a birthday. The homeowner said they would stop setting off fireworks.

Several cars were ticketed around 2:45 a.m. June 25 for parking illegally overnight on the street.

A resident called police June 24 about being scammed on Facebook and losing $125. The caller just wanted advice on what to do next.

Police went to David Fortier Park to check on swimmers who were in the river by the old library. They found six people in the water. They were advise about the no swimming ordinance. Police left a voicemail with the service department because the no swimming sign either fell or was taken down.

A resident called police at 8:06 a.m. June 27 that his company vehicle was stolen out of his driveway last night. Police checked and found it was last seen via a plate reader at 11:08 p.m. June 22 in in Beachwood at the Cedar/Richmond road intersection. The car was listed as stolen.

Police and fire were contacted at 12:13 p.m. June 27 about smoke coming from an unattached garage at an Olmsted Township residence. That portion of Bagley Road was closed to traffic. The blaze was described as a large rubbish fire. The fire was extinguished at 1:02 p.m.

A woman came to the station at 5:30 p.m. June 27 with a wallet she found. It had the owner’s identification inside of it. She placed the wallet under the window since police were busy. The wallet’s owner was contacted. His mother arrived and picked it up.
